What we are up to April 15, 2020

Since our last posting we have received the bees for the backyard, they ALL died over the winter. Beekeeping is hard, the bees are very sensitive and they just could not make it thru even this very mild winter, we left them plenty to eat over the winter, and now we have four boxes (which is a lot) of honey to start off the spring since they did not use it. This is a picture of them in our garage, we put them out yesterday, hope they survive – it is cold but they cannot live on our garage for long, so hoping for the best.

These are new bees ordered to fill our hives that died out over the winter.

While David and our son, Garion have been off work, they built a dock to put in the river behind our house, we are the only people on the river who do not have a boat or a dock, so they built this floating dock and were putting in the water in this video. I was there to help if anything happened, and it did, the dock got stuck at the end, and David tried to lift it out of the water to move a piece of wood that was wedged underneath and he tore a ligament or tendon and has been out of commission of his right arm since Saturday. We spent 4 hours at the urgent care, it is not broken, and today a video conference with the orthopedic surgeon was good news of just move it as much as possible and take steroids. So good news there!

Putting in the dock on the river, but not smoothly.

I am working quite a bit from home and going into the hospitals to work whenever they need me, this is a picture of me and my friend Kathy today working hard and staying safe!

So this week, we have been eating together, like every week, but posting our dinners so far, we cook every night except Thursdays. Saturday – Salad nite. Easter – Ham, Mashed Potatoes, Cheese platter, corn, rolls, Salad, cupcakes with cherries and whipped frosting. Monday – Leftover Easter Dinner along with Brussel Sprouts. Tuesday- Fried rice with Pork and quinoa with frozen eggrolls (those were not good eggrolls, did not eat them). Wed – Chicken Tamales with Nacho Chips. Thursdays is our order out nite once a week. Friday will be Breakfast for dinner, probably pancakes with bacon and eggs.

Back from Cruise, just barely

Well, we could not post the entire time on the cruise, because the wifi, was spotty at best, and we could not download even one image, so will post over this week, but the worst part was we almost did not make it back home. Our cruise ship, the Royal Caribbean Vision of Seas, was turned away from both St Marteen, and St Kitts, so we ended up with an extra sea day, then the morning we were supposed to dock at San Juan, Puerto Rico, we woke up and noticed we were not docked, we were still at sea. We were scheduled to disembark around 7:30, at 7:45ish, the captain said they were working on the paperwork as quickly as possible, but all I could think about was quarantine and living inside our inside stateroom for 30days. David was … whatever…. I think he just wanted to be off work, but did not think about being locked up in a room.

Around 8am, the captain said we were granted permission and we would be allowed to disembark at 9:15, so we did as quickly as possible and ran to the airport. Once we were thru customs and waiting for our plane at the airport, we heard from others on our ship the ship that was tandem to us all cruise – an Celebrity cruise was banned from docking and they were on a 15day quarantine at sea, from two people who were just test positive for Corona Virus- YIKES!!! So close, so glad to be home. Whew!
