This trip is just David and myself, our kids are back at home safe and sound. We flew to Seattle to travel to Alaska, but first stopped in Seattle for the beginning of our travels.
David and I have never been to Seattle, so we researched as we always do a TripAdvisor search, a WordPress search for blogs on the area and last – when we arrive, we ask as many locals about everything fun to do within a short period. We narrowed down our less than 24 hours in the area to a visit to:
1. Pikes Place Market
2. Space Needle
3. Chihuly Gardens
Straight off the plane, we head to our hotel – Seattle hotels are expensive ($230-300/nite) down town, but since we only have one day, we want to be where the action is and stay at the Motif Hotel (just purchased by Hyatt this very week). It is a clean and cool hotel. In fact the entire ride from the airport over in our Lyft, the town looks young and hip – we see many people walking around with dogs and lots of public art. Our first thought is – this town might be too cool for us – lol, so we will soak in the youth and try and learn a new trick or two.

Pikes Public Market is a huge fish, art, collectibles, dining & farmers market – where you walk for what feels like miles up and down and lengths, both inside and outside. It is a wonderful sunny day – warm and perfect for walking. We are only 0.6 miles to the market from our hotel. As we approach the market we realize it is busy, really busy – but we love these types of out door/indoor markets. The first thing we see is….
There are flowers – huge long stalls of flowers. I want to buy some, the flowers are fresh and different from anything I have seen, and really well priced, but we are only in town for one day, so no flowers for us.

Walking around Pikes Place Market.

We buy a cup of hard pressed apple cider at a vendor. Then a BBQ Pork bun and pork meat stick at Mee-sum pastry – the lines were long at Mee-Sum, so that had to mean it was a good place, and it was the bun was fluffy and the BBQ pork stick was perfect.
We looked at so much – I will add in more pictures here as soon as David gets his together, we are in transit today so posting while moving can be hard, but nice to remember while still fresh.
Love Seattle, they have wonderful coffee shops too 😊

They did, we did not get to go to the first Starbucks, because the line was huge, but we saw it and had some tasty coffees there for sure.

Glad you got to spend some time in my home town. Seattle is a great town though I wonder if it’s losing some charisma. We visited last summer and took the kids to Pikes Place – it was fun but I’m not sure it’s a spot for kids anymore. Did you get to the French bakery? Or to the original Starbucks?

We loved the entire city, were just there yesterday – I say the kids see more in the schools than in the markets – a family trip has many lessons. We did see the original starbucks, but way too long a line for us, and we went to many bakeries, but not the french bakery, we only had about 20hours and had to sleep part of that. We loved Seattle, but also felt it was way too cool for us – too hip. We met a professional video game player who posted live online and we realized how out of date we are with what is cool. But love the wharf, the public art the huge amount of food choices, the entire green feeling to the town was amazing.

ps, we are from the Motor City/Detroit, things here in comparison feel old school and often dirty, but also rough and fun.

Only been to the motor city once. Driving through, actually. The freeway, this was in the 80s, well, it needed some repair!

Ha, they all still do need repairs, nasty roads our way.

Well for sure pick up an Ulu knife great for chopping and food prep. You might see if there is one that’s been Forged, a good chance you would get a really good blade by a craftsman

I am blessed as well. I had no money but somehow I was able to go to Italy in March to visit my father but I waited 7 years. I pray I will make it again WITH my husband not too long down the road to show him Venice and Florence. He saw Rome and other nice places up north but, so much to see!

That does sound wonderful, and yes Italy has so many things to see, even a month would not be enough, but praying you both go and soon.

There are alot of people from Guam that live around the Seattle area. I haven’t been yet but I will plan a trip there in the next few years to visit friends and family.

Awesome! Those would be my top 3 picks for Seattle too! We loved our trip there last November but it was before I started blogging our adventures. I’m looking forward to seeing the Space Needle & Chihuly Garden and Glass on your blog!

Yes, I totally understand!
My friend, and fellow blogger, suggested I get the WordPress app on my iPhone. It’s been really helpful. I highly recommend it. 😉

Yeah, I think I might have to switch to that, but I like having Davids photos and my words…. but can give it a shot. Thanks – will try that out later this week.

I lived in Seattle for a while, good old memories the fish market I still remember the show of the guys taking an order, getting the fish and literally throwing it to the other guy 10 feet away, guy raps it up and out it goes to the customer. Quite the show the put on, good for business too.

It was a good show, but I did not get any photos or videos, but did see it.

I don’t know, I think a low stress job like tossing fish might be fun.
